Congratulations girls for a great finish to the season!
The U23 ECNL team played FC Dallas night in Dallas to 1-1 draw. We then played the 2nd leg in Austin night; the way the conference worked out the team who won would advance to the National Championships. The game was great end to end. Both teams hit the crossbar and posts and it looked like it was going to go to overtime. In the 82nd minute FC Dallas hit a great shot to go up 1-0. Lonestar threw everything at FC Dallas trying to tie the game. In the 90th minute Sophia Mundy tied the game up on a goal mouth scramble. With the emotion of the game Lonestar went for it pressing and winning the kickoff. The ball was sent into Jamie French who looped it over the FC Dallas GK to win the game 2-1 in the 92nd minute!
Tremendous work ladies!
The 96G Red battles in Brenham on Monday night to earn a 2-0 win, falling one goal short of advancing to regionals. They beat Challenge Kingwood to end up tied for 1st place in state—with….12 players!
They were amazing as Rob Ferguson will attest.
Great job ladies! We are so proud of you and all your your hard work!
The ECNL 96s qualified for the U18 ECNL National Championships this past weekend with a 5-3 win over Albion.
The 96s have qualified for the ECNL National Championships 4 straight years at U15,16,17,18! The team won the National Championship in 2011. The National Championships take place June 24-29th in Seattle Washington. "I know this is the team's fourth appearance at the National Championships but this one is special to me, says ECNL DoC JD Cochran. We have played every game with injured players, down a man or with players helping the team from other rosters. Every player has played out of position to make this happen. I am so proud of this group for pulling through and sticking together to achieve another chance at winning a National Championship. We are into the the sweet sixteen now 5 games away from winning it all. Congrats to the Club, Parents and Players for this years achievement."
Congratulations to our 00G White South team who won the State Cup this weekend for the second year in a row.
The team advance to Regionals in Alabama in June!
Good luck girls!
Good Luck at Regionals Ladies!
On Saturday May 10th the U23 Lonestar ECNL team traveled to Carl Lewis Stadium in Houston, TX to play the WPSL Professional Team Houston Aces.
The game was in a great environment. The players had locker rooms, pre-game food, recovery food and Showers! The Aces put on a great atmosphere for the team. The game was end to end in the first half, ending 0-0. night's U23 Team was comprised of College Players from Baylor, Texas A&M, Rice, Texas Tech, University of North Carolina and University of Texas. The players have been off for 4 weeks finishing school and wrapping things up. "Fitness was a big issue for us in the 2nd half, said ECNL DOC JD Cochran, we had 13 players and we ran out of gas.
The U23 program is about getting these players opportunities to stay fit. This was our first day of preseason and it showed. We have 21 days to get ready for FC Dallas who went to the National Championships last year. Our goal is to train and play as much as possible and go to the National Championships in Seattle ." The Aces game ended 2-0.
Thanks to the entire Houston Aces Staff and program for the event!

Lonestar was the first team to shut out the Houston Aces and only the second team to tie them this season. "Our ladies played great today, says ECNL DOC JD Cochran. "With 3 teams combining and playing together you worry that their could be miscommunication. I was very impressed on how each player worked together. This was a great opportunity for Lonestar Players and we are very fortunate to have a relationship with Ted Brumbaugh and the Houston Aces.

Sade Adamolekun, a member of the Lonestar U14 (00) ECNL team, has received an invitation to participate in the U.S. U15 National Team camp to be held April 19 – 26 in Carson, CA. Sade has 9 goals and 4 assists so far this season with her 00 ECNL team that currently sit undefeated atop of the Texas Conference.
Sade recently showcased her talents at the ECNL Dallas National Event after U.S Soccer Officials requested to ECNL coach Darren Warham to see her play. She didn’t disappoint them playing 2 games with the Lonestar 97 (U17) team and scoring 2 goals in the 3-0 win over the Colorado Storm.
Don Cameron, Executive Director of Select Soccer, had this to say: “I am delighted to hear of this great opportunity for Sade. To be selected for a National Camp two years up is an outstanding achievement. I have known Sade since she was a young girl in the club and she has an outstanding skill set and work ethic. I am sure she will make the most of this opportunity. Sade will be a great ambassador at the National Camp for all the outstanding female soccer players at Lonestar Soccer Club.”
Lonestar SC and Austin Aztex alumni, Kris Tyrpak and Kekuta Manneh come off the bench in the Chivas USA vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC game last night and make an instant impact! Kekuta ties up the game in the 80th minute with this great counter-attacking goal - watch here!
Great work guys! Brilliant watching you out on the field, and we look forward to see what's next for you both!
National Women’s Soccer League preseason officially began for all nine clubs on Monday, and the kickoff to the 2014 season is now just a month away. The Thorns continue to operate without the services of U.S. striker Alex Morgan, who has considerable recovery left — there is not even a timetable — on a stress reaction in her left ankle. So with Danielle Foxhoven shipped north to Seattle this offseason, who could fill in alongside Christine Sinclair in the interim?
Mexico forward and former Lonestar player Jackie Acevedo could have her opportunity, the Oregonian’s Jamie Goldberg reports.
“I love her,” Thorns coach Paul Riley said of Acevedo. “I hadn’t seen much of her, just game tape. But just to see her with our kids – she’s good, she’s sharp, she’s got a good brain on her, she moves well off the ball and she’s crafty around the net.”
We will be watching Jackie!
Lonestar SC's own Orrin McKinze Gaines put on a show for all in attendance on Wednesday night, scoring all three goals as the U.S. U17 Men's National Team defeated Portland 3-2 at Merlo Field.
Great work McKinze!
The Elite Clubs National League has released the roster for its upcoming Texas ECNL PDP (Player Development Program) being held at Toyota Park, in Frisco, on March 8-9, 2014. Player selections are made based on individual performance in all ECNL competitions as well as by ECNL staff coach recommendations. Final rosters and selections are then formed by ECNL PDP Director Sean Nahas and other non-affiliated ECNL National Staff members.
Lonestar players attending the PDP include:
Katie Uhler: Lonestar 96 ECNL/ Notre Dame
Patricia Fernandez: Lonestar 97 ECNL/ West Virginia
Katie Glenn: Lonestar 97 ECNL/ University of Texas
Claudette Lassandro: Lonestar 97 ECNL/ Texas A&M University
Nakia Graham: Lonestar 98 ECNL/ University of Texas
Emily Strouphauer: Lonestar 99 ECNL/ US U15 National Team Player
A seventh and eighth Lonestar Player was also selected (Chrissy Pitre and Mikaela Harvey) but was unable to attend.
Player Development Programs (PDPs) are regionally-based identification and development programs within US Club Soccer’s id2 Program with three primary goals:
(i) Provide the top players within specified elite leagues with an opportunity to be identified and evaluated for higher levels of play
(ii) Provide a high quality developmental experience
(iii) Recognize and reward individual performance and achievement.
The ECNL PDP in Dallas will include a training session and two 11 vs. 11 games for each player. Top players from each ECNL PDP, along with other players scouted in ECNL competition throughout the year, will be considered for invitations to the ECNL / id2 National Training Camp in August and potential inclusion in US Youth National Team training camps.
The ECNL will be hosting nine PDP events across the country between February and May 2014, providing an opportunity for top players in every ECNL club. There are no player costs for participation and the ECNL covers all staffing, facility rental and equipment costs for each event. The only responsibility for participating players will be the cost of travel and accommodation (if necessary).
