Injury Free Coalition for Kids® of Austin Helps Lonestar

Lonestar Soccer Club and The Injury Free Coalition for Kids® of Austin have partnered up for 2006-2007 season.  

Through this partnership, The Coalition has donated over 100 medical kits to be distributed to each Lonestar team.  THANK YOU

The Injury Free Coalition for Kids® of Austin is a child injury prevention program led by Children’s Hospital of Austin, and affiliated with the National Injury Free Coalition for Kids® - one of the country’s fastest growing and most effective injury prevention programs.

Injury Free Coalition for Kids® sites are independent, hospital-based, community-oriented programs, whose efforts are anchored in research, education, and advocacy, each driven by the Coalition’s mission: preventing injury to children. The Injury Free Coalition for Kids® is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation located at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.  

Did you know…
•More than 775,000 children under age 15 are treated in hospital emergency rooms for sports-related injuries each year.
•During a two-hour soccer practice, children can lose up to a quart of fluid through sweat – putting them at risk for dehydration if fluids aren’t replaced.
•Approximately 60% of injuries from organized sports occur during practice rather than a game.

Through education, hands-on activities, community support, and public awareness, our goal is to create a safer community for all children.

Injury Free Coalition for Kids® of Austin is proud to partner with Lonestar Soccer in creating safer communities. You can’t take all the risk out of life, but you CAN play safer, stronger and healthier through prevention and education!
