How do I Become a Referee?

 

To become a referee you will need to attend a refereeing clinic. Please click on the link http://www.stsr.org/pages/refsfaqs.htm#1 for information on becoming a referee, the different grade levels, and the cost associated with these clinics.

 

Once you have attended the clinic and passed the test, please contact Jeremiah Fasl .

If you are over 18 you will need to register with Kidsafe program and will need to fill out a W-9 form (link to IRS) and turn in at the Lonestar Soccer South office at:

Referee Pay:

The pay scales for the different age groups are below:

Referee Requirements:

As a referee, you must:

• Be at the fields at least 15 minutes prior to start time of their first game.
  Conduct yourself appropriately at all times when at the fields.
• Uniforms:
  Referees need to wear proper attire:
  • Main Jersey
  • Gold with Black pinstripes. Shirts need to be tucked into your shorts at all times even if you are not working a game.
  • Alternate Jersey
  • Black with White pinstripes, Blue with Black pinstripes, Red with Black pinstripes
  • Shorts
  • Plain black shorts with pockets are recommended.
    Plain black shorts without pockets are ok.
    No other marking on the shorts are acceptable
  • Socks (Socks must be Black with white stripes)
  • Watches (Recommended you carry two watches during a game in case one fails.)
  • Footwear (Must be black in color.)
  • Whistle (Recommended you carry at least two whistles with two different pitches in case similar whistles are being used on adjacent fields).
  • Red/Yellow Cards
  • Flags (Must own a set of linesman flags as the club may not provide)
  • Pen/Pencil (Must have a writing instrument to update the game card).
