St. Stephens Soccer Academy

Lonestar Soccer Club (LSC) is very proud to have such a renowned educational establishment, with St. Stephens Episcopal School (SSES) and their Full Time Soccer Academy as a strategic partner. Between SSES, their Soccer Academy & LSC there is a unique opportunity here in Austin Texas for those players that are committed to strive for success and personal growth both on the soccer field and in the classroom.

Lonestar Soccer Club has set the benchmark for all teams to reach by winning 6 of the 10 National Cup State Championships in 2008, one of those teams advancing as Region III Champions to the National Finals, and two others narrowly missing out on the Regional Championship. Lonestar Soccer Club DoC’s, David Smith & Sean Bubb both acknowledge that SSES has played an important role in both the success of LSC the past five years, and more importantly, the development of many LSC players both on the field and in the classroom.

Lonestar Soccer Club currently has 34 players rostered on its teams that attend SSES, either as part time day students, or as full time boarding students. The relationship between LSC & SSES works both ways, no matter if a player came to Austin to play soccer, go to school or indeed both; they all benefit from the opportunities provided by two nationally recognized leaders in their respective fields.

Current players that play at both LSC and at SSES, that benefit from our partnership include Omar Vallejo (92B Red – Regional Team/Trial at Chelsea), Mikey Lopez (U15 Men’s National Team), Alex Tully (State Team), Stephanie Brook Hepfner (U15 Women’s National Team), Justin Sealy (Bahamamian U’21 Men’s National Team), Jabril Jamal (Regional Team) & Zach Rubin (Regional Pool). Alumni of both LSC & SSES are many and include Matt Gold (Ohio State – National Final as Freshman), Austin Da Luz(Wake Forest – National Champion as Freshman), Rachel Balaguer (Texas A&M).

Both Lonestar Soccer Club and St. Stephens Episcopal School Soccer Academy, headed by Bobby Murphy (Regional Coach & USSF Staff Instructor), are very proud of the partnership that has been developed, and of all the players that have come through the two programs and gone on to achieve greater goals in life; both on and off the field.

LSC & SSES have also worked together to bring international competition here to Austin; in recent years games have been set up against Stoke City, Monterey Rayados, Tigres and the Mexico Women’s National Team. Meanwhile our network of contacts has seen players and teams go on trial and compete in games in Mexico, Argentina & England.
