ALDC09 Referee Announcements
08/20/2009
The master team schedule is available on the ALDC web site, by Friday evening; the referee schedule should available for viewing in Arbiter. We recommend you view the ‘master schedule’ in arbiter, and plan/plot out the games you want to work at whatever site you so choose. (Filter to the date/site you would like) You have two choices for scheduling

1. (Recommended) Self-assign (a link for ‘self-assign’ will appear on your opening page when we activate the option) will come activate Sunday Night 9PM and remain on for 48 hours. While on, you will have the opportunity to self-assign up to 10 games per 24hr. period while observing the following self-imposed rules:

a. No more than 5 matches per day (if you go over, you may lose the excess games)

b. No more than 3 matches in a row w/o a break if you are scheduling 4 or 5 games.

c. Do not, under any circumstances self-assign all centers in matches (unless you are on the single center 8 v 8’s). You will lose them during the leveling process by the site coordinators. (if you make a mistake…drop me an e-mail and I’ll correct it for you. once you have selected a match, there is no way for you to remove the assignment, only one of us can do that)

d. Preview the matches and make double sure you are not scheduling yourself at two sites by accident….if you are scheduling like that on purpose, you need at least two time slots between assignments. (in reality, no one should be trying to work at two different parks)

i. If you cannot see any matches for self-assign, before you call, check:

1. Are you marked ‘ready?’

2. If you are from out of Austin, is your travel distance sufficient for Sat/Sun/Mon to reach Austin?

3. Do you have the dates blocked?

e. When self assign goes off, the assigners will ‘level’ out the schedule as much as possible for 24-48 hours, then self assign will come on again, probably next Friday. We expect to have all scheduling complete by next Sunday.

2. Option 2. Although we prefer self-assign, you can request we assign you. Choose the site you want to work at based on the following criteria at each site then, contact the assigner and request they assign you based on your schedule:

a. NEMP: U15-U19 Boy’s (J. Jones referees@lonestar-sc.com )

b. WCRP: U15-U19 Girl’s (Jimmy Tirres jimmytirres@hotmail.com )

c. T&C: U11-U14 Girl’s (full crew) +8v 8’s (single centers) (Tom Ayars tomayars@hotmail.com )

d. Brushy Creek: U14-U16 Girl’s (J. Jones referees@lonestar-sc.com )

e. Onion Creek: U11-U14 Boy’s (Joel Berg joelbergh@yahoo.com )

f. Buda Sporstplex:U11-U13 Girls (Paula Korzeniewski pkorzeniewski@yahoo.com )

g. Old Settlers: U10-U12 8v8’s (Do Nguyen doduc52@yahoo.com )

Everyone that has registered through today at 5pm should have received an e-mail from me this afternoon titled: Austin Labor Day Cup Referee Information. If you did not receive this e-mail, NOR have you received an e-mail titled “Welcome to ArbiterSports.com” (if you are new to ArbiterSports)

- Check your spam/junk e-mail folder. (if they are there, you will need to make e-mails either from me (redcard69@austin.rr.com) or www.arbitersports.com ) “TRUSTED” in whatever way your mail server handles “safe” e-mails.

- If you still do not see either e-mail, send ME an e-mail: redcard69@austin.rr.com so I can research the problem.

If you have logged into ArbiterSports and poked around, make sure you have all your personal information: address, city, state, zip code and phone number filled in correctly. We can’t assign you games (nor can you self-assign games) without accurate information. Also, if you are from out of town and were already in ArbiterSports by virtue of belonging to another group (like: NISOA or TASO) make sure your travel distance is sufficient to ‘reach’ Austin from your home address. (You should be able to see your travel distance at 400 miles from anywhere in Texas) If you don’t update your travel, Arbiter won’t show you as available for matches because Austin is outside your travel distance. (Travel distances set under the ‘blocks’ heading).

If you specified a Hotel Room, expect an e-mail targeted to you this weekend. Be advised, those assignments will not be made till a few days prior to the tournament so as to make sure we have you as close to the site you are working as possible. (If you select Buda, you really don’t want to be in a Round Rock Hotel, now, do you?)

If you are a player-ref or a parent ref, the game schedules should be out in a day or so (check the main webpage for the tournament). Teams will have 4-5 days to review game times and sites, moan, complain, kick scream about their assignments, then, the schedules will lock down and flow over to us on the referee assigning team. (this is to avoid the situation wherein whole age groups were moved from one site to the other AFTER referee assignments were made.

If you would like to be considered for WDDOA /R3PLW / State Classic League games in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Corpus or Brenham (yes, BRENHAM!) send me an e-mail. Generally, these matches are for experienced refs with at least two years of officiating or 1 year if the official played on a D1 or Premier Level team (youth or adult)
